How a seatedevening runs.

  1. The build

Stage, light and sound go in before the linen. The floor manager walks the room with the venue and signs off the plan.

  2. Arrival

Guests are seated to a chart the venue also holds. Light stays at conversation level and the music sits under the talking.

  3. The block

Speeches, awards or the presentation, timed with the kitchen to the minute and read from the printed run sheet.

  4. The close

Light changes once, the dance set starts, and load-out begins only when the room is empty.

What the venuehas to have.

  • From 300 square metres for 150 guests seated, from 500 for 300
  • Ceiling height from 3 m where a screen or a stage riser is used
  • Load-in route at least 90 cm wide, with a goods lift above ground level
  • Three to four 15 A circuits depending on the programme
  • Kitchen and bar staffed by the venue, with a timing plan agreed in writing
  • For the terrace: a flat surface that takes ballast weights, since we do not peg without permission

Questionsabout this group.

Do you supply food and drink?

No. The venue or its caterer handles food, drink and service staff. We bring the dressing, the light, the sound, the stage and the run sheet, and we agree the timing with the kitchen in writing.

Is the lighting plot safe for photosensitive guests?

Yes. There is no strobe, no blinking and no moving beam in any programme in this group. Light levels change slowly between the dinner and dance parts of the evening.

Can you work in a room with a hard ceiling?

Yes. Brass Night includes acoustic panels for exactly that case, and in other programmes we move the speaker positions and drop the level rather than add more boxes.
